Taichung is a livable city blessed with a pleasant climate and rich resources. We are committed to passing on this beauty to future generations through sustainable development—an essential part of our policy planning. As climate challenges grow more urgent, we continue to enhance livability and strengthen the well-being of our citizens.
Economically, we promote infrastructure development, improve public transportation, and host events like shopping festivals to drive consumption and boost business opportunities—building a strong and prosperous “Wealthy and Strong Taichung.”
Socially, we provide comprehensive care for all ages, fostering an inclusive and compassionate environment aligned with the SDG principle of “leaving no one behind,” which embodies our vision of a “Warm Taichung.”
Environmentally, our “Blue Sky, White Clouds Action Plan” focuses on reducing pollution, advancing green energy, and protecting ecosystems—moving steadily toward a carbon-free “Livable Taichung.”
Taichung is our shared home. Creating a sustainable and happy city is our duty. With innovation and determination, we will meet every challenge and build a brighter future for all.

Taichung Central Park, known as “The Lungs of Taichung,” covers an area of 67.34 hectares. This expansive green space serves as a metropolitan oasis, supporting rich biodiversity and providing an ideal habitat for a wide variety of organisms. The park is home to more than 10,000 trees from 106 species, 83% of which are native, creating a diverse and thriving urban ecosystem.
Gaomei Wetland, situated south of the Dajia River estuary, spans 701.3 hectares and features a unique mix of sand and soil textures. This distinctive composition fosters a complex and rich wetland ecosystem, which includes Taiwan's largest population of Bolboschoenus planieulmis. Each year, during autumn and winter, large flocks of migratory birds arrive for short or extended stays, making it an ideal location for bird-watching.
The Dakeng Scenic Area features 14 hiking trails with a total length of 17.7 kilometers, each offering different levels of difficulty. Along the way, abundant vegetation enhances the tranquil atmosphere and provides stunning panoramic views.
Located next to Taiwan Boulevard, Maple Garden is a unique concave recreational green space for the public in the Taichung area. Covering an area of more than 3 hectares, Maple Garden has lakes, mangrove trees, green lawns, and scenic bridges, making it an ecological park that combines landscaping, ecology, flood retention, drainage, and air quality regulation.
Calligraphy Greenway stretches for 3.6 kilometers, extending from the National Museum of Natural Science in the north to the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in the south. It is a vibrant urban space featuring a long, wide, strip-like structure surrounded by lush greenery.
Lishan Scenic Area, with an average elevation of 1,900 meters, is a year-round alpine tourist destination. It is known for its abundant high-altitude fruits and vegetables, including peaches, pears, and apples.
Tanya Shen Green Bikeway was converted from an old military railway and stretches approximately 14 kilometers. With its gentle slopes, it is ideal for family-friendly outdoor cycling. Along the path, diverse plant life showcases the changing scenery of the four seasons and highlights the unique charm of the surrounding towns.
The Sea of Flowers in Xinshe takes place annually from November to December. At its heart, vibrant cosmos in shades of pink, white, and yellow flourish along winding footpaths, creating a breathtaking display. Taller flowers, such as sunflowers and sun hemps, naturally frame the field, enhancing its beauty.
Guguan Hot Spring is set against the backdrop of Basian Mountain and faces the Dajia River. Nestled in rugged terrain, Guguan is surrounded by towering peaks that stretch toward the sky. The hot springs flow year-round from between the rocks at the base of the mountains.
Luchuan Canal is one of the four major rivers in downtown Taichung and is considered the cradle of the city’s humanities and culture. In recent years, the river has been revitalized through interception and diversion works, gravel filtration, and the installation of flood drainage box culverts, creating an open urban space rich in water and greenery.
