Mount Barker is an enthusiastic Pioneer Council with the CitiesWithNature program.
Our signature initiaitve is the creation of the Mount Barker Natural Parklands, a series of natural areas, wetlands, linear trails and creeks connected to residential, commercial and industrial areas. We are using treated wastewater, powered by renewable energy, to help establish the Parklands and support the circular economy by irrigating vegetable crops and growing native species.
Our community is connected through linear trails and open spaces and volunteering opportunities. The parklands inspire art, culture and appreciation of nature.
